We have filled this position and are not looking for additional job applications for now.
Tideways is looking for a UI/UX/Frontend Engineer (m/w/x) at our office in Bonn (Germany) as either part-time or full-time position. Applications are accepted until October 31st, 2018.
As our first frontend engineer you will have the opportunity to be a major influence on our product UI/UX and bring a balance of opinion to our team of backend engineers. This is not a junior position, but if you are experienced and ship proven work on your own, this position is for you.
We build and sell a Software-As-a-Service (SaaS) product called Tideways. Our software presents monitoring and profiling insights into web applications for our audience of mostly developers and system admins. The core functionality of our product is collection, analytics and visualization of time series and profiling data with a focus on providing helpful and actionable advice for our users.
Tideways is a new (2,5 years old) self-funded company, growing fast from customer revenue alone. Our team is currently 2 full- and 2 part-time employees strong and our goal is to build a sustainable, long-term business with a calm working environment, transparent company internals for all employees and room for personal growth and learning.
You have gained knowledge of UI/UX fundamentals and experience with modern UI/UX design for the web/browser as part of your previous work or education.
You would describe yourself more as a generalist than a specialist in your field.
You are highly motivated, committed to improving existing skills and like to learn new skills during working hours.
You are comfortable with speaking and writing English fluently and already speak German or are willing to learn German to reach the European CEFR level B2.
You live in the larger Bonn/Cologne area or like to relocate (EU-resident with a work-permit) with our support.
About the Job
We are a customer centric company, which is why everyone at Tideways helps with support in regular intervals, and you will be in contact with customers through our support system, video chat or e-mail. Updating documentation and resources for customers is another regular task. Members of the engineering teams are also assigned to our emergency contact rotation for up to a week every month.
Every employee regardless of role is encouraged to participate in product and company decisions to influence the direction and roadmap of where we are going.
For this particular job we are offering to pay between 50.000 € to 70.000 € based on experience and skills.
As our colleague you have the flexibility to choose your own working hours throughout the day to incorporate this job into your life-work balance. Our work week has 40 hours maximum and overtime is the absolute exception. No vacation days are necessary to run errands, and there is certainly no need to wait until after work to take care of a family emergency. We also support home-office and remote-work for up to 50% of your working hours.
Other benefits include:
- VRS jobticket and Bahncard 50
- 43 days of paid vacation, including 13 fixed days in summer where we take every Friday off (summer hours).

- quiet office with 2 people per room maximum
