The story of Tideways:

Benjamin, the CEO, successfully turned his PHP roots into wings for his own company.

Since then, Tideways has grown and evolved. To support all fellow PHP enthusiasts and everyone looking to improve the performance of their website, he founded the Profiling, Monitoring and Exception Tracking Tool Tideways. A nightmare for all bugs and a dream come true for developers!

The reason why Benjamin saw the urgent need for a software like Tideways, the story of how Tideways came into being, and the corporate philosophy, from the founder’s perspective:

Before Tideways, we performed many load tests for e-commerce customers to prepare for Black Friday and other peak load times. It was very unsatisfactory for me to only see that a shop couldn’t handle the load, without knowing why. My idea for a profiling tool that could remove the cloud of uncertainty was born at that moment.

The initial version of the Profiler was based on the open-source XHProf Profiler that Facebook released for PHP in 2009. From that moment forward, the Tideways Profiler began to take shape. It always fascinated me to understand the causes for slow loading times, and implementing fixes for those bottlenecks based on these insights in the least amount of time.

I created Tideways for PHP and it seamlessly integrates with popular online shop software like Shopware and Magento, as well as various libraries and frameworks.

We are grateful for our sturdy roots, and we never forget to give back to the open-source community we were raised in. Many of our team members contributed and continue to contribute to open-source projects such as Doctrine, Symfony, and PHP. Furthermore, Tideways is a significant sponsor of the PHP Foundation and we regularly sponsor community events.
