CLI 1.3.4 released

  • Feature: Add new commands to list and inspect marker and release events
    • tideways event list [project] lists marker and release events for the selected service and environment, covering the last 24 hours by default.
    • tideways event show [project] <event_id> (alias: tideways event view) shows before/after performance metrics, improved and degraded transactions, downstream layers, errors, and slow SQL.
  • Feature: Add new commands to list and inspect tracepoints
    • tideways tracepoint list [project] lists retained tracepoints for the selected service and environment, with pagination.
    • tideways tracepoint show [project] <tracepoint_id> shows configuration, collection totals, an aggregate trace when available, and up to ten retained individual traces.
  • Feature: Add new command to list and inspect incidents
    • tideways incident list [project] lists open incidents by default, with pagination. Use --status=closed or --status=all to include closed incidents.
    • tideways incident show [project] <incident_id> to inspect open or closed monitoring incidents, their thresholds, latest values, affected transactions, and alert measurement history.
  • Feature: Add observation inspection commands for a project’s selected service and environment.
    • tideways observation list [project] lists open error and warning observations by default. Use --status=ignored or --status=all to include ignored observations.
    • tideways observation show [project] <observation_id> shows an observation’s current state and severity, description, and impact. Bottleneck observations also include recent matching traces and the tideways trace show command for drilling into request-level evidence.
  • Feature: Add tideways skill to report whether the Tideways SKILL.md is installed and up to date for Claude (.claude/skills/tideways) and Codex and other agents (.agents/skills/tideways), in the current git repository and in your home directory.
  • Feature: Add tideways skill update to update all installed Tideways skill copies in the current git repository and in your home directory without prompting. Missing copies are not installed.
  • Feature: Add tideways skill install to install or update the Tideways SKILL.md in the current git repository (--project) or your home directory (--global), for Claude (--claude) and Codex and other agents (--agents); --update refreshes an outdated copy without asking.
  • Feature: Add local trace caching for tideways trace show with default limits and tideways trace span. tideways run also populates the cache when span data is available. Use the new tideways cache clear command to delete the local trace cache.
  • Improvement: tideways init now finishes with SETUP COMPLETE when the SKILL.md installation is skipped and points to tideways skill install.
  • Bugfix: Update tideways tracepoint create to use the current completion-notification API field instead of the obsolete notificationPersonalEmail field.
  • Change: The Tideways SKILL.md is now project-independent. It no longer embeds the configured project name; commands resolve the project from .tideways.json or the global default, so one installed skill works across all projects. The skill no longer asks the agent to run tideways list before every task; it runs the task’s command directly and falls back to tideways init or tideways list only when a command fails.
  • Change: Update dependencies and rebuild with the current Golang version.

I’m a Software Engineer at Tideways, where I build and refine features that help developers understand and optimize the performance of their PHP applications. Alongside implementing new functionality, I also enjoy shaping how features are presented, from interface design and visual details to naming, making them intuitive and easy to use.

I enjoy solving technical challenges while creating tools that feel thoughtful and approachable. My work combines software engineering with an eye for usability and developer experience, helping turn complex performance data into features developers can quickly understand and benefit from.
